Civil Court

Initiation

• The Plaintiff initiates the hearing by submitting a request and paying a processing fee of $5,000 to the Department of Justice.

Representation

• Both the Plaintiff and the Defendant may represent themselves or hire legal counsel.

Case Requirements

• The Plaintiff must demonstrate that the Defendant’s actions resulted in measurable harm or injury. This harm may be physical, financial, emotional, or any other type of recognized damage.

Hearing and Decision

• A judge will hear evidence from both parties and issue a final, binding order. The court’s decision will be posted on the Government website.

Restrictions on Suits

• Citizens cannot sue any law enforcement agency/Medical Center unless they have previously filed a complaint with that agencies Internal Affairs.
